Applications are invited from meritorious sportspersons who have represented the Country/ State / All India Inter University tournaments (organized under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities) /National School Games/National Physical Efficiency/drive for appointment to the following posts under sports quota

Number of the posts: 38

Inspector of Income-tax : 12

Tax Assistant : 16

Multi-Tasking Staff : 10

Pay Scale:

Inspector of Income-tax : Rs.9300-34800 + Grade pay 4600 (PB-2)

Tax Assistant : Rs.5200-20200 + Grade pay 2400 (PB-l)

Multi-Tasking Staff : Rs.5200-20200 + Grade pay 1800 (PB-1)

Age Limit:

Minim um 18 years and maximum 25 years as on 01.04.2020. Accordingly, persons must have bee born not earlier than 01.04.1995 and not later than 31.03.2002 can apply. The Upper age limit is relaxed up t a maximum of 5 years for OBC candidates , 10 years in the case of SC/ST candidates and 5 years in t he case of  sportspersons with exceptional achievements as per DoP & T O.M. No.15012/3/84-Estt.(D) dated 12.11.1987.


Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or its equivalent. Minimum of a pass in Matriculation or its equivalent.

About Organization :

The Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, or Director General of Income Tax is a senior rank in the Income Tax Department in India. Chief Commissioners are in charge of operations of the department within a region which is usually overlapping with the territory of a state. Depending on the region, their numbers vary from 16 (in Maharashtra) to 3 (in Karnataka). They are chosen from the Indian Revenue Service and usually serve for the government for a period of 30 years. After cadre restructuring, a new designation is created the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax and senior-most Chief Commissioners of Income Tax are promoted into this grade and have additional responsibilities as per personnel and budgetary targets are concerned. Their equivalent rank at the Union Secretariat is that of a Special Secretary(A secretary who is not the Administrative Head of a department but discharges the function of a Secretary for all other matters. A full Secretary designated as Secretary GOI is the Administrative Head) to Govt. of India in the apex scale.
