About Candidate

I have a diploma in Electrical engineering (light current) specializing in Telecommunication. I have 20 years work experience in different project spheres. I started working for Telkom SA as they are the ones who gave me a bursary for doing my diploma. I worked for Telkom for 10 year, e years as a student technician, doing the system installations in Telkom exchanges. Then another 7 years as network planner, planning last mile infrastructure, using Optic planning and Microwave planning.

I also worked as a network planner for Plessey SA, Fibretronic Sales, Maredi Telecoms, Huawei SA (doing fibre planning for MTN), Xuma Technologies( doing fibre planning for Vodacom), Link Africa and now Samo Engineering ( doing Aerial Fibre network planning for Liquid Telecom).

I’m proficient in the following in MS Office, MS Visio, GE Smallworld, Google Earth, Outlook and Arc GIS. I was using these softwares to compile an executable planning document for which I also produce Bill of Quantities.

Planning transmission links for MTN, Vodacom, Cell-C and Corporate Clients, using existing network (SDH, Microwaves and copper links) in case of additional links. Where there is no spectrum for transmission link, we plan for the new system to be installed to create a link required, using transmission systems like Microwaves, HDSL, Optic fiber. Some of the links uses SDH for transmission. We use programs like ICS to finding line-of-sight in case of microwave links, and Rasgis to determine the sizes of antennas and attenuators to be used for that microwave link, Netgraph to register new sites, Tx-Ops to search for spares in the existing spectrum, ProjEsim to estimate the cost of a project, Tacs to show traffic routings from starting point to the ending point, and different Microsoft programs such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word.

Planning 2Mega Bits transmission links, using GE Small World program, for Telkom, Cell-C, MTN, Vodacom and Corporate Clients, using transmission system like Microwaves and copper HDSL’s and Optic fibres. We use programs like Tx-Ops to search for spares in the existing spectrum, Netplan to show traffic routings from starting point to the ending point, and different Microsoft programs such as Microsof Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Visio Google Earth and MAP INFO to compile the planning document, which will be used to install the system and complete the project. Microsoft Visio to compile the planning document, which will be used to install the system and complete the project. We now also plan access for Vodacom, MTN, Cell C and IS to Dark Fibre Africa routes, planning either 4way or 7way ducts. We basically plan access for customers to the communication network and plan for transmission routings.

1. Planning  Doing FTTx planning for Vodacom and Transnet.  Do a site survey.  Choose a suitable and cost effective solution for the fiber link.  Allocate the Feeders, links and distribution on Google earth for that area.  Do the design that show the details of how the fibre is going to be distributed into the homes, which can be SDU’s (single dwelling units) and MDU’s (Multi-dwelling units or complexes)  Compile an executable planning file, using programs such as MapInfo, Google earth, AutoCad and MS Visio.  Generate Bill of Quantities.  Submit the planning to the client for approval.  After approval and implementation, I compile As-Builts and capture the installed infrastructure on GESW, and send for approval.  After approval, I send COC(Certificate of Completion) for invoicing.  Also doing asbuilts for DFA projects. 2. Implementation  I have been also involved in implementation of various Vodacom projects for 1 FTTH and FTTs. This includes: i) Having all approved wayleaves, which are not expired, from municipality and service providers (e.g, Vodacom, MTN, CellC, etc.) ii) Approved Health and Safety file, with all valid documents for employees and company. iii) Involving the community by liaising with community leaders iv) Arranging wayleave Kick-off with all stakeholders before we commence with project implementation.  Here is the list of projects: 1. Stanford Manor- (FTTH)-MDU Installation of fibre to the houses in a complex. 2. Celtis Ridge Shopping complex(FTTs) Installation of Fibre feeder to the Shopping complex from DFA manhole. 3. Hereford (FTTs) Installation of Fibre feeder to the Hereford and Casa-Paladio complexes from Vodacom manhole.
