Does SASSA Provide Pension Payments?

SASSA provides pensions through the Older Persons Grant. Beneficiaries receive R1,890 monthly, and individuals over 75 years old receive R1,910 per month.

To qualify for the SASSA pension grant. Older Person’s Grant, an applicant must:

• Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee.
• Reside in South Africa.
• Be 60 years of age or older.
• Not receive any other social grant for themselves.
• Comply with the means test, ensuring their income is below R86,280 per year if single, or below R172,560 if married.
• Not be maintained or cared for in a State Institution.
• Provide a 13-digit bar-coded identity document.
