The Ekurhuleni West TVET College (EWC) has officially opened applications for Semester 2 of the 2025 academic year. If you’re looking to further your studies in engineering or other technical fields, now is the perfect time to apply. Applications close on 20 June 2025.
Who Can Apply?
Semester 2 applications are open to new students interested in studying NATED Engineering courses. You are considered a new student if:
You’re applying to EWC for the first time.
You have never been enrolled at EWC before.
You have never had an EWC student number in any previous year.
Returning students must also complete an online re-application for their next semester or trimester.
How to Apply Online for Ekurhuleni West TVET College
Step 1: Complete the Placement Test
Before submitting your application, you must complete a compulsory placement screening test on the EWC website.
This test helps you choose the right course for your skills and interests.
Important: Do not let anyone else complete the test for you — it may place you in the wrong course, affecting your performance.
Step 2: Submit Your Online Application
For New Students:
Visit the official Ekurhuleni West TVET College application portal.
Scroll down to “Please Select” and choose YES or NO depending on whether you’ve started an application before.
Read and accept the POPI clause.
Follow the prompts to complete your application.
Upload all required documents.
For Returning Students:
Apply online via the Returning Students Application Portal.

Grade 12 certificate / Statement of results / Latest school report / DHET certificate
ID document
Proof of residence
If applying for NSFAS funding, also include:
Proof of income (for you or your household)

Course Structure
Each semester runs for six months:
January – June (Semester 1)
July – November (Semester 2)
Students take four subjects per course, and completing N4, N5, and N6 leads to a certificate in your field.
NSFAS Funding for Ekurhuleni West TVET College
Yes! NSFAS pays for approved courses at EWC because it is one of South Africa’s 50 accredited public TVET colleges.
NSFAS Semester 2 funding applications open on 14 July 2025.
