How Does CACH Work?
The Central Application Clearing House (CACH) is a service designed to assist Grade 12 graduates seeking placement in universities, universities of technology, or TVET colleges at the start of the academic year. This system collects information from learners and shares it with educational institutions and Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) to help match students with available spaces.
Once an institution identifies a suitable candidate from the CACH database, it contacts the student directly, provided the student meets the program requirements. However, CACH itself does not select students for placement; that decision rests with the institutions.
After receiving an offer through the CACH system, students have two days to accept or decline it. They can receive up to three offers. If all offers are declined or the window to respond closes, students will be removed from the system and will not be able to sign up again.
CACH encourages students to carefully consider and respond to all offers, and it’s perfectly fine to reject an offer if it’s not the right fit for them.
