How many Days SASSA Bank Account Verification Takes
A vital step in receiving SASSA grants is providing your bank account details for payment processing. However, some beneficiaries have questions and concerns about how long the verification process takes.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) requires all recipients to submit their bank account information to facilitate timely disbursement of social grants, which typically occurs after grant applications are approved. This process includes a verification step to ensure the accuracy and security of the submitted details.
SASSA has announced the following regarding the verification timeline:
Verification Duration:
The verification of bank details takes approximately 3 to 5 days. This means that once you submit your banking information, SASSA aims to complete the verification process within this timeframe.
For assistance with bank account verification, SASSA encourages applicants to reach out via email at grantenquiries@sassa.gov.za or by calling 0800 60 10 11. If your bank details have not been verified after 5 days, it is advisable to contact SASSA promptly.
SASSA explained the verification process as follows: “
The applicant’s information is sent to the Department of Treasury and the selected bank. Once verified, the information returns to Treasury and is then forwarded to SASSA for payment processing.”
Once SASSA successfully verifies your bank details, payment scheduling will begin. Beneficiaries should regularly check their payment dates. Keep in mind that the payment schedules for SRD grants and permanent grants differ.
SASSA Status Check for R350 Payment Dates
Payments for the SRD grant are typically processed during the last week of the month, excluding weekends and public holidays. Beneficiaries can view their status on the SRD website to find the exact date when their payment will be available in their bank accounts.
Here’s how to check your status:
Visit the SASSA SRD status website and navigate to the status check section.
Enter your ID number and the cellphone number you used during your grant application.
This will allow you to track the progress of your grant application.
For security purposes, you’ll receive a One-Time Pin (OTP). Enter this OTP to access your SRD grant payment status.
You will also be able to see your grant payment date.
SASSA Grant Dates for Permanent Grants
Permanent grants from SASSA are usually paid starting from the second day of each month. However, payments are not made on weekends or public holidays.
SASSA provides grant payment dates on their official website and social media channels.
It’s essential to ensure that your bank account details are accurate to avoid delays or possible rejection of your application. Submitting incorrect or incomplete information can hinder the smooth disbursement of your social grant.
