How to Access Your NBT Results

Have you completed your National Benchmark Tests (NBTs) but you’re not sure how to get your results? Don’t worry—we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know.


What Are the NBTs?

The NBT is an exam developed by the National Benchmark Test Project to assess a student’s readiness for university. It includes two multiple-choice tests:

  • AQL – Academic and Quantitative Literacy

  • MAT – Core Mathematics

Each test takes 3 hours to complete.
🗓️ NBT results are valid for 3 years.


When Will You Get Your Results?

  • Your results will be available approximately four weeks after your test date.

  • Results are released by 12:00 noon on the release day.

  • Universities you applied to may receive your results three weeks after your test—only if you gave them permission during registration.


How to View Your NBT Results Online

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the NBT website.

  2. Click on the “Applicants” tab.

  3. From the dropdown, select “NBT Results.”

  4. Click “Access your results”.

  5. Then click “Get my results.”

  6. Enter your:

    • Username: Your ID number

    • Password: The one you created during registration

  7. Click “Login” to view your results.


Alternate Way to Access Your Results

If you prefer, you can request your results by emailing nbt@uct.ac.za four weeks after your test session. Be sure to include:

  • Your full name

  • ID or passport number

  • Your 14-digit NBT reference number

📌 Note: Results will not be shared over the phone, as NBT staff are not allowed to release them this way.


Important Notes

  • You must pay your NBT fees in full to access your results. If you have an outstanding balance, your results will be withheld.

  • During registration, you can choose to allow institutions access to your results. If you select “Submit”, they will receive your scores automatically three weeks after your test.
