What is a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)?
A PGCE is a one- or two-year higher education qualification in teaching.
Usually taken after completing an undergraduate degree in Education or a related field.
The course develops teaching skills and deepens expertise in a specific teaching subject.
PGCE Specialisations
PGCE Primary: Teaching children in primary schools.
PGCE Secondary: Teaching high school learners.
PGCE Further/Adult Education: Teaching at higher education institutions or adult learning centres.

How to Apply at TUT
Applications are submitted online through TUT’s website.
You will need to provide personal details such as:
ID Number
Date of Birth

Admission Requirements
Hold an appropriate diploma or degree with sufficient academic learning related to teaching subjects in the FET phase.
To specialize in a specific subject, you must have completed:
A full major at NQF Level 7 in that subject, and
At least 32 credits at NQF Level 6 or higher in the other related subjects.
Diplomas of at least 360 credits at Level 6 from accredited institutions also qualify.

Minimum: 2 years
Maximum: 5 years
