An opportunity for an experienced MAINTENANCE & PRODUCTION FOREMAN is required for permanent employment based in Ladysmith.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Production Management:

• Oversee the manufacturing process to ensure product quality and compliance with safety standards.
• Coordinate production schedules to meet deadlines and optimise workflow.
• Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the supply chain to maintain necessary stock of raw materials.

Maintenance Coordination:

• Schedule and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions and breakdowns promptly.
• Ensure all machinery and equipment are maintained in optimal working condition.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment history.

Process Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance productivity and efficiency.
• Collaborate with the quality supervisors to address product defects and implement corrective actions.
• Utilise lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and optimise resource utilisation.

Health and Safety:

• Enforce safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
• Address any safety concerns or violations promptly and effectively.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Matric
• Related tertiary qualification (adv).
• Trade Test: Electrician or Millwright.
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Cold Room & Freezer experience (adv).
• Proven experience in maintenance coordination and equipment troubleshooting.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in using production management software (ERP) and maintenance tracking systems.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ladysmith residency required.
