Job Description

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and manage rock engineering strategies and plans to ensure the safe and efficient extraction of minerals
Conduct geotechnical assessments and studies to identify potential hazards and risks
Provide technical support and guidance to mine planning, design, and operations teams
Monitor and analyze ground conditions, rock properties, and stability to recommend appropriate ground support systems
Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards
Collaborate with external consultants and stakeholders on rock engineering projects
Train and mentor junior rock engineers and mining staff

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field
Postgraduate qualification in Rock Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering is preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in rock engineering within the mining industry
Strong knowledge of geotechnical software and tools
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to different mine sites
