Job Description
Responsibilities:
Conduct geotechnical investigations and assessments to determine ground conditions and identify potential hazards
Develop and implement ground support systems, monitoring programs, and ground control plans in accordance with industry best practices
Provide technical guidance and support to mine production teams regarding ground stability, rock support, and blasting techniques
Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards
Collaborate with other departments to optimize mining methods and design for safe mining operations
Mentor and train junior engineers and technicians in rock mechanics principles and practices
Essential Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field
Rock Mechanics Certificate – Open pit with slope stability
Registered member of SANIRE
6 years’ relevant experience, with 2 years’ managerial experience
2 years experience as a Rock Engineer in surface mining operations
Experience with ground control software and geotechnical instrumentation
Strong understanding of mining regulations and safety standards
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to mine sites as needed
