Job Description
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement geological exploration programs to identify potential mining sites
Supervise and mentor a team of geologists and other technical staff
Conduct geological surveys, mapping, and sampling to determine the mineral potential of mining sites
Analyze geological data and prepare accurate reports and recommendations for management
Monitor drilling operations and interpret drilling results to guide decision-making
Collaborate with other departments such as mining engineering and environmental management to ensure efficient and safe operations
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technology advancements, and best practices in geology
Qualifications:
BSc Honors degree in Geology or related field; Master’s degree preferred
Registration as a “professional scientist” with the SA Council for Natural
Scientific Professions is essential
Membership of the Geological Society of SA is essential.
At least 8 years of experience in geological exploration and mining operations
Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing geology teams
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Proficient in geological software and data analysis tools
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic mining environment
