Required Documents for SRD SASSA Application
Are you curious about the SASSA R350 grant, which has recently been increased to R370? If you’re looking to apply and wondering what documents are needed, we have all the information you need regarding the SASSA application for the SRD R370 grant.
Understanding the SRD SASSA Grant
The Special Relief of Distress (SRD) grant was established in response to the challenges posed by the pandemic. If you’re considering applying, you might be unsure about the required documentation—but we’re here to clarify.
Since applications for the R350 grant must be submitted online, you won’t need to provide any physical documents.
SASSA’s Statement:
SASSA will verify the personal information you provide through various electronic means. This process eliminates the need for physical documentation. When applying, you’ll need to enter your ID number or, if you’re a refugee, your Department of Home Affairs Refugee permit number.
Your details will be cross-checked with databases from the South African Revenue Services, Home Affairs, the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), and the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) to determine if you’re receiving any other forms of income or grants. If you are, your application will not be approved. Additionally, your ID number will undergo a Fraud Risk Scoring assessment.
Applying for the SASSA SRD Grant
To have your application for the R350/R370 grant considered, you must give SASSA permission to verify your identity, residency, income, or social security benefits.
Once your application is approved, SASSA will ask you to confirm your bank account details through a secure online platform. You have the right to verify that this request is genuinely from SASSA to ensure your safety.
After submitting your application for the R350 grant, you’ll want to track its progress. SASSA offers several methods for checking the status of your R350/R370 grant application, including options through WhatsApp or online.
SASSA R370 Grant Updates
Applications for the R350/R370 grant remain open, as the grant has been extended multiple times. Recently, during the parliamentary session, the President announced that the grant would continue, with expectations that it may eventually be established as a permanent Basic Income Grant.
Once you apply and are approved for the R350/R370 grant, you will receive payment for that month as long as you haven’t deposited a significant amount of money into your bank account during that period. If you earn too much in one month, you won’t receive a payment for that month, but your eligibility will be reassessed in the following month, and you may receive a payout if you qualify again.
