South Lebanon Push A Smokescreen? Israel ‘Fortifies’ Area Near Golan ‘To Strike Hezbollah From East’

Israeli troops have intensified operations along the Golan Heights, removing landmines and building new barriers near a demilitarised zone bordering Syria, according to a Reuters report. The IDF is reportedly moving the DMZ fence further into Syrian territory while constructing additional fortifications. Analysts believe these actions could signal an escalation against Hezbollah, with Israel aiming to secure a strategic area from which to monitor the group and prevent infiltration. Security sources suggest this move may be part of a broader Israeli strategy to strike Hezbollah’s supply routes, many of which pass through Syria. Meanwhile, Russia has withdrawn troops from an outpost in southern Syria following an understanding with Israel.
