TETA: Driving Skills Development in South Africa’s Transport Sector

Each sector of the economy is supported by a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA), responsible for promoting skills development within its respective industry. For the transport sector, this organization is known as the Transport Education Training Authority (TETA).

TETA is one of South Africa’s SETAs, established to advance skills development in alignment with the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS).

   While TETA previously managed the accreditation of training providers, this role is now largely handled by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO). However, TETA still ensures that training aligns with national standards.

   TETA provides funding to support various skills development programs, including bursaries for students pursuing qualifications in transport-related fields.
5. Sector Research
   TETA conducts ongoing research to identify skills gaps and the evolving needs of the transport industry, helping to shape relevant and impactful training programs.
