Sources said Trump stated that the whole world loves PM Modi and that India was a magnificent country and PM Modi was a magnificent man
The bonhomie between United States’ President-Elect Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been very evident and both have shared praises for each other over the years. In fact, PM Modi was one of the first world leaders to dial Trump after his decisive victory in the American Presidential polls.
Both leaders affirmed to work together for world peace. Sources said Trump stated that the whole world loves PM Modi and that India was a magnificent country and PM Modi was a magnificent man.
President Trump also told PM Modi that he considers him and India, “true friends”. He said PM Modi was one of the first world leaders he spoke to after his victory.
PM Modi congratulated Donald Trump soon after his victory in the Presidential polls and said he looked forward to renewing their collaboration to further strengthen the India-US Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership.
Here’s What Trump Said About PM Modi Over The Years
The relationship between PM Modi and Trump has been characterised by strong diplomatic ties, strategic cooperation, and evident personal warmth.
A statement from the Ministry of External Affairs stated, “Reflecting on the positive momentum of the India-US partnership during President Trump’s first term, PM recalled their memorable interactions, including the ‘Howdy Modi’ event in Houston in September 2019 and the ‘Namaste Trump’ event in Ahmedabad during President Trump’s visit to India in February 2020.”
Recently, Trump praised PM Modi and called him a “total killer,” describing him as “the nicest human being” and calling him a “very good friend.” Speaking in October on the Flagrant podcast with hosts Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh, Trump shared his views on various world leaders. He also said that before Modi became prime minister, India was a “very unstable” country.
He said PM Modi changes completely when ‘someone’ is ‘threatening India’. “Modi (India), he’s a friend of mine and also the nicest human being. Before him being appointed as the Prime Minister, India was very unstable. On the outside, he looks like he’s your father. He is the nicest and a total killer,” Trump said.
Trump also reminisced about PM Modi’s 2019 visit to the United States for the historic “Howdy, Modi” event in Houston, Texas, where Modi addressed a large crowd of Indian-Americans at NRG Stadium.
“They did a thing called Howdy, Modi in Houston, Texas. It was me and him and it was beautiful. It was a gathering of around 80,000 people and it felt like crazy. We were walking about. Today, maybe I won’t be able to do something like that,” he shared.
In September, Trump referred to PM Modi as a “fantastic man” when he said he’d meet Modi during his US visit.
Republican Trump has got over 270 threshold electoral college votes needed to win the presidency.
In a remarkable political comeback, Trump, 78, won the race to the White House to become the 47th President of the US, trouncing his Democratic rival Kamala Harris. Trump had earlier served as the 45th President of the US, after his first victory in the election in 2016.
