Application Deadlines for 2026
MBChB (Medicine) courses: Apply by 31 July 2025

All other programmes: Apply by 30 September 2025

Admission Requirements
National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Bachelor Exemption
To qualify for undergraduate study at UL, applicants with an NSC must meet the following:

Life Orientation with a minimum achievement level of 3

English as language of learning and teaching with at least level 3

Minimum achievement levels in specific subjects as per Faculty requirements

For degree programmes: Four 20-credit subjects with at least NSC level 4

For diploma programmes: Four 20-credit subjects with at least NSC level 3

Meet the required Admission Point Score (APS) for the chosen programme

Note: Meeting the minimum APS does not guarantee admission.

Matriculation Certificate (prior to 2008)
Applicants who completed Grade 12 before 2008 may apply using their Senior Certificate with full university exemption by converting their grades to APS points.

National Certificate Vocational (NC(V))
Applicants with NC(V) Level 4 must meet Faculty-specific criteria and pass placement tests:

Degree programmes require 60% in three fundamental subjects (including Life Orientation) and 70% in four vocational subjects

Diploma programmes require 50% in three fundamental subjects and 60% in three vocational subjects

South African ID (or passport if international)

Parent or guardian ID/passport if under 18

National Senior Certificate (if already completed)

Final Grade 11 results with school stamp (if currently in Grade 12)

Academic record if currently studying at another higher education institution

USAf accreditation for international students (apply via mb.usaf.ac.za)

Financial Aid and Accommodation
