University of Mpumalanga Opens 2026 Applications

University of Mpumalanga (UMP) 2026 Applications Now Open
The University of Mpumalanga (UMP), located in Mbombela, is one of South Africa’s newer universities, established in 2014. Starting with just over 100 students in its first year, UMP has grown rapidly and had over 4,000 students by 2020.

Apply Now for 2026
Applications for all programmes at UMP are open from 1 June 2025. If you plan to use NSFAS funding, remember to apply to the university first before applying to NSFAS later in the year.

Important Application Tips
UMP applications are online only—no need to download or submit physical forms.

Apply through the UMP student portal on their official website.

Because admission can be competitive, it’s smart to apply to multiple universities to increase your chances of acceptance.

You don’t have to wait for your final Matric results or NSFAS applications to apply to UMP. Use your Grade 11 results and early Grade 12 results as a guide.

Applying early is important because programmes may fill up quickly.
