What NQF Level Trade Test is Equivalent To?

To become a qualified artisan or trades specialist, individuals must successfully pass a trade test. After completing this test, they receive certification that officially recognizes their skills in their respective fields.

A trade test is the final assessment required for those completing an artisan qualification in a recognized trade. To take this test, candidates must meet specific requirements outlined in the Skills Development Act of 1998 (Act 97 of 1998).

Entrance Requirements for a Trade Test:

• N2 Certificate with relevant subjects, including Mathematics, Engineering Science, and an additional subject required by the trade.
• Technical Trade Theory Programs quality assured by SETA and equivalent to NQF Level 3.
• Relevant Engineering NCV Certificate with seven subjects at NQF Level 3.
• Technical Grade 11 with Mathematics, Science, Language, and a trade-related theory subject.
• Relevant N6 Certificate or National Technical Diploma (T, S, or N stream) directly related to the trade theory.
