What Should I Do If CACH Doesn’t Place Me at an Institution?

The Central Application Clearing House (CACH) is a service that assists learners with Grade 12 results who are looking for placement at a university, university of technology, or TVET college at the start of the academic year.

The CACH platform is used by institutions and sector education and training authorities (SETAs) to help fill available spots. If a learner meets the requirements and a space is open, the institution will reach out to them directly once they’ve accepted the offer through the CACH system.

CACH is an alternative for students who applied on time for higher education but were either not offered a place or didn’t receive a response from the institutions they applied to. However, it’s important to remember that CACH does not guarantee placement, so it’s always best to apply early, ideally a year before you plan to start your studies.
