WSU offers over 170 academic programmes across 7 faculties at undergraduate and postgraduate levels:

Application Fee: No fee required — WSU only accepts free online applications.
Steps to Apply:
Visit the WSU website and access the online application portal.
Complete your personal details, including contact and address information.
Choose your desired undergraduate or postgraduate programme — check minimum admission requirements carefully.
Upload all necessary documents (see below for required documents by applicant type).
Review your application carefully.
Submit your application. You will receive all communication via the email you provide.

For Current Grade 12 Learners:
Upload Grade 11 final results and any available mid-year or quarterly results.
Post-Matric Candidates:
Matric certificate or equivalent
Academic record
ID or passport
Transfer Students:
Matric certificate
Post-matric certificate
Identity document
Official academic report
Conduct certificate
International Applicants:
Must first apply to Universities South Africa (USAf) for credential evaluation.
After receiving USAf results, submit the evaluation and passport copy with the application.
Mature Age Exemption:
Some departments consider mature age exemption; contact the Admissions Office at supportappl@wsu.ac.za for more info.

After the closing date, expect to receive feedback via email.

Click Search to view your current application status.
Is WSU a University of Technology?
WSU is classified as a comprehensive university, offering both academic and technological qualifications. It is not specifically a university of technology, unlike institutions such as:
Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT)
Tshwane University of Technology (TUT)
Central University of Technology (CUT)
Other universities like North West University and Stellenbosch University are also not universities of technology.
