GED Holders Can Now Apply for Degree Programmes in South Africa
π Boston City Campus Welcomes GED Graduates β No Higher Certificate Needed!
In a groundbreaking move for South African higher education, Boston City Campus has announced that GED graduates can now apply directly for degree programmes β without needing a Higher Certificate or waiting months for foreign conditional exemption from Universities South Africa.
This marks a first for a locally accredited South African institution, making the path to higher education significantly more accessible for GED learners.
π A Game-Changer for GED Students
Together with the GED South African office (www.ged.org.za), Boston has streamlined its admissions process for GED graduates.
βWeβre excited to offer a smoother, faster application journey for GED-qualified students,β says Sue De Roos, Managing Director at Boston City Campus.
βToo often, students face long delays and unnecessary admin β certified documents, courier costs, and frustrating wait times. We wanted to remove those barriers.β
β¨ Why This Matters
For years, GED students had to navigate complex processes, often needing to complete additional qualifications or wait for recognition of their credentials. Now, Boston is taking a student-first approach that recognises the value of the GED.
Having worked with thousands of school-leavers over the past 30+ years, Boston understands that GED graduates:
Are familiar with e-learning and independent study
Are self-motivated and tech-savvy
Fit well into Bostonβs flexible learning model (both online and on-campus)
π« Boston’s Nationwide Support
With 47 campuses across South Africa, Boston offers:
On-campus support for assessments and admin
Fully online registration, learning, and exams via the Invigilator app
Access to over 80 career-focused qualifications including degrees, diplomas, and higher certificates
