Job Description
Duties :
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
Applying the correct accounting principles and ensuring that all procedures comply IFRS
Prepare and analyse customer and product contribution reports
Responsible for financial reporting, including budgets, forecasting, Statutory and Tax year-end packs
Compiles statutory year-end and tax pack from various financial sources and working files
Assists with audits and ensures compliance with the internal control matrix requirements
Investigates and evaluates the financial systems and controls of the business units
Assist in implementation of new financial systems when required
Analysing current level of business and risk insurances and recommend adjustments as necessary to ensure appropriate cover
Prepares, completes and issues the monthly financial overview of business units
Facilitates and prepares weekly profit forecast
Compiles annual budget pack from budget working files
Ensures that the journal entries are properly recorded and authorized
Review GL accounts. Ensure that the allocation of costs is at all times reasonable and correct
Compiles and/ or reviews the monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Calculate, complete and submit monthly VAT return & completion of annual IT14SD
Responsible for financial evaluation and final editing of capital applications and post implementation reports
Determine and review the financial viability of any capital expenditure (capex) proposal
Keep track of the capex approval process, and monitor actual expenditure vs. approved expenditure
Responsible for the fixed asset register and ensures that the GL agrees at all times with the fixed asset register
Ensure that the fixed assets of the business units are cycle- counted during a financial year on a pre-determined timetable
Ensures that inventory cycle counts are performed at business units, according to a pre-determined timetable
Ensures that all inventory adjustments are properly authorised
Maintenance of the item master data on the ERP system
Create, load and maintain BOM’s, calculate and update overhead rates
Ensure stock valuation in accordance with IFRS and company policy
Management of staff according to budgetary controls, company policies, internal control matrix and sound management principles
Review, write and maintain SOP’s and ensure the implementation thereof, as and when required
The requirements for the position are:
CIMA or CA qualification with minimum 2 – 3 years manufacturing or FMCG experience
2 – 3 years relevant management accounting experience; from Trial Balance to Balance Sheet
Must have experience in budgeting procedures, financial reporting including Tax and VAT, cost analysis and standard costing, capital application processing
Advanced knowledge in the use of financial software applications and databases
Advanced ERP system knowledge, e.g. SAP or BAAN and Infor LN system knowledge will be a great advantage
Microsoft Office Suite – Advanced or Professional
Must be fluent in English & Afrikaans
Key requirements include being commercially sound, deadline driven and having attention to detail
The ideal candidate should be hardworking, honest, self-motivated and disciplined and be able to work under extreme pressure;
It is essential that the candidate have a passion for implementing and maintaining a continuous workplace improvement program (20 Keys).
The chosen candidate must be proactive, have good management, communication and interpersonal skills as well as problem solving and planning skills;
The ability to build a strong finance team, train & develop staff, together with personal and professional integrity are key requirements.
Code 08 driver’s license and reliable transport is essential.
