Requirements:
Nursing degree/diploma, Current South African Nursing Council (SANC) registration mandatory
Infection Control certificate or expert knowledge advantageous
Knowledge of risk management processes advantageous
Expert knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act)
Demonstrated Clinical expertise and ability to teach and educate all stakeholders to combat disease transmission
Computer proficiency – MS Office, SAP or similar
Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform all duties in accordance with South African Nursing Council (SANC), Department of Health (DOH) and National Core Standards
Develop and co-ordinate the yearly SHERQ action plan and longer term SHERQ roadmap, prepare monthly reports on progress and present feedback at Group forums
Plan, direct and implement, co-ordinate, maintain and evaluate the effective hospital-wide infection control program consistent with the regulatory requirements and the needs of the client
Participates in professional development and education activities/programs to ensure excellence in the provision of Infection Prevention and Control Services at the Hospital
Educates and teaches Infection Control to all stakeholders and keeps knowledge current regarding infectious diseases and specialises in the prevention and control of infectious disease outbreaks in a hospital setting
Assist in retaining all current quality accreditations and work towards the attainment of new quality accreditations
Compile relevant reports and progress on all incidents and adverse event investigations and report back to Hospital Management and Head Office with recommendations and timelines
Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with overall legislation and COID, including investigations and findings within the prescribed standards
Facilitate all forms of risk assessment e.g.: general, manual handling, emergency preparedness, fire prevention and in the hospital and provide recommendations
Develop and maintain updated risk register including actions to mitigate risks whilst maintaining accurate reporting and record keeping of all SHERQ and infection control activities
