Job Description

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement procurement policies, procedures, and strategies to support the mining operations in the Western Cape.
Oversee the procurement activities, including sourcing, negotiation, and contracting, to ensure seamless supply chain operations.
Conduct market research and monitor industry trends to identify potential suppliers or vendors that offer competitive pricing and high-quality products and services.
Manage relationships with existing and potential suppliers, monitoring their performance and negotiating favorable terms and conditions to enhance profitability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine procurement needs, specifications, and budget constraints, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall objectives.
Monitor inventory levels and track procurement metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement cost-saving measures.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies, reporting any irregularities and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
Lead, coach, and mentor the procurement team, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback to optimize individual and team effectiveness.
Stay updated with industry developments, market trends, and technological advancements related to procurement, recommending innovative strategies and solutions to drive continuous improvement.
Prepare and present reports, analysis, and recommendations to senior management, providing insights into procurement processes, vendor performance, and cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
Proven work experience as a Procurement Supervisor or a similar role within the mining industry.
Minimum 5 years’ work experience in a supervisory capacity in Supply Chain
Excellent knowledge of procurement principles, processes, and best practices, specifically within the mining sector.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Proficient in using procurement software and other relevant tools.
Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Solid understanding of local and international procurement laws and regulations.
Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
Attention to detail and accuracy in managing procurement systems and documentation.
