Job Description

Responsibilities:

Preparation of the internal monthly financial reports and analysing variances
Assisting in preparation of the monthly and annual shareholder reporting packs
Preparation of Annual Financial Statements in terms of IFRS
Assisting in preparation of the quarterly and annual Prudential statutory returns
Preparation of the quarterly and annual South African Reserve Bank (SARB) returns
Preparation of the company annual and provisional tax returns
Monthly tax computation
Overall tax compliance of the licence
Assist with the annual Budget process
Daily authorising of payments and cash management
Peer review of reconciliations and transactions
Assist with other finance related ad-hoc requests

Requirements:

B Comm accounting degree or similar qualification
CA (SA) qualification would be advantageous
Insurance industry experience critical
Comprehensive understanding of general ledger and financial accounting functions
IFRS Accounting and reporting experience (preferably within insurance related industry)
Knowledge of IFRS17 will be advantageous
Knowledge and practical experience of relevant legislation
Decision making, problem solving and analytical abilit
Gathering and handling of information
Effectiveness and efficiency in performing tasks
Deadline driven and ability to work under pressure
Energetic and resilient
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritise and manage multiple deadlines
Above average excel skills, attention to details and efficient
