Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and supervise a team of electricians, ensuring that all electrical work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
Develop and implement electrical safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults and issues in a timely manner, minimizing downtime and production losses.
Coordinate with other departments to schedule electrical maintenance work and repairs without disrupting mining operations.
Keep abreast of industry trends and technological advancements in electrical systems to make informed decisions on upgrades and improvements.
Maintain accurate records of all electrical work performed, including maintenance schedules, repairs, and equipment inventory.
Provide training and mentorship to electricians and other staff to improve their technical skills and knowledge of electrical systems.
Collaborate with management to develop and monitor budgets for electrical maintenance and projects.
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards, including South African mining regulations and the Mine Health and Safety Act.

Qualifications and Experience:

Qualified Electrician with a relevant trade qualification or certification.
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a mining environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and regulations within the mining industry.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
Valid driver’s license and own transport.
